Fed's Fisher says easing to reach its limit
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Dallas Federal Reserve President Richard Fisher on Tuesday urged the markets to prepare for the tapering of the Fed's quantitative-easing stimulus, though repeating that overall policy would remain loose for some time to come. "I understand there's sensitivity, but markets should also bear in mind that this program cannot go on forever," Fisher said in an interview on CNBC. "Our balance sheet has become bloated, and at some point we will have to taper back on the pace of purchases, but that doesn't mean we'll stop. We'll have less accommodation," Fisher said. The Dallas Fed chief was due to give a speech Tuesday evening in Melbourne.
