U.S. vehicle sales top 16 mln annualized rate NEW YORK (MarketWatch) - Sales of light vehicles in the U.S. hit an annualized rate of 16.09 million units in August, Autodata estimated, the highest rate since September 2007. August sales of cars and light trucks totaled 1.5 million, led by General Motors Corp. , it added. The August rate was 11% above that of a year ago, when sales hit an annualized rate of 14.49 million units. Sales in July equaled an annualized rate of 15.80 million units, according to Autodata.
