GM's Aug. sales up for best month since Sept. 2008 NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- General Motors Co. said GM dealers delivered 275,847 vehicles in the U.S. in August, up 14.7% from a year ago. The monthly sales total represented the highest result of 2013 and the best performance since September 2008, according to GM. The company said retail sales grew by 22%, but fleet sales declined by 8%. Among GM brands, Cadillac deliveries increased by 38%, Buick saw a 37% gain, GMC was up 14% and Chevrolet was up 10%.
