California's 42nd congressional district covers parts of Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino counties in Southern California. The current Representative for this district is Republican Gary Miller.
The district is extremely affluent (the median income of the district is second in the state), racially diverse, and very conservative. The district overwhelmingly voted George Bush in 2004 over John Kerry. Since the district was reconfigured in 2000, it has not supported a Democrat in any state or federal election and is one of the states' most reliably Republican districts.
