Florida's 12th congressional district encompasses much of Polk County, Florida as well as parts of rural and suburban east Hillsborough County and a small piece of western Osceola County. It is currently represented by Republican Adam Putnam. While there are more Democrats registered to vote in this generally conservative district, it has been a strong Republican bastion for more than a decade. The number of voters who claim no party affiliation has grown steadily in recent years. George W. Bush received 58% of the vote in this district in 2004. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of R +5. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida%27s_12th_congressional_district
