Italy's Democratic Party reportedly leads in vote from MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Italy's centre-left edged out the center-right alliance by a tiny margin in the country's general election, according to reports out Tuesday. The left-leaning Democratic Party, led by Pier Luigi Bersani, gained 29.6% of the lower-house vote compared to a 29.1% share for the centre-right party led by former Italian leader Silvio Berlusconi, The Wall Street Journal reported. The Democratic Party is now expected to try to form a government after declaring a narrow victory in both houses, the newspaper reported. Almost all votes had been counted, Reuters reported, and the result left the senate without a clear winner.
