The Idaho First Congressional District encompasses the western and northern parts of this US State. It includes the western third of the state capital, Boise, and most of Boise's suburbs, including the cities of Nampa and Meridian. It also includes Lewiston and Coeur d'Alene. George W. Bush received 69% of the vote in this district in 2004. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of R +19. Since 2009 the district has been represented in the United States House of Representatives by Walt Minnick, a Democrat from Boise.
