On December 22,2010, the FDIC released the Winter 2010 issue of Supervisory Insights. This issue is now available on www.fdic.gov at www.fdic.gov/regulations/examinations/supervisory/insights/index.html. Articles in this issue of Supervisory Insights address topics of interest to examiners, bankers, and supervisors: a discussion of the role of trust preferred securities issued by bank holding companies during the financial crisis; an overview of best practices relating to agricultural lending and effective management of agricultural credit concentrations; a summary of recent results from the FDIC’s Credit and Consumer Products/Services Survey that provide insights into how insured institutions are modifying operations in response to stressed economic conditions; and a discussion of the development of the senior life settlements (SLS) market and the significant risks associated with SLS transactions for financial institutions, investors, and consumers. Comments about articles in this issue and suggestions for topics for future issues can be sent to SupervisoryJournal@fdic.gov or to Managing Editor Kim Lowry at klowry@fdic.gov. We look forward to hearing from you.
