The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) announces the 2011 dates for the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) meetings. The meetings will be held on Tuesday, April 26 and Tuesday, October 18 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
Both meetings will be open to the public and held in the Loy Henderson Conference Room of the U.S. Department of State, located at 2201 C Street, N.W. (entrance on 23rd Street) Washington, D.C. Registration is required for each meeting and will open 30 days prior to the meeting date.
The majority of the meeting will be devoted to an exchange of ideas between the Department’s senior management and the panel members on design, operations, and building maintenance. There will be reasonable time provided for members of the public to provide comment.
The IAP is a nine-member advisory panel that provides extensive knowledge and expertise on topics related to design, construction, facility maintenance, value engineering, and security. The panel provides industry and academia's latest concepts, methods, best practices, innovations, and ideas related to OBO's mission of providing more secure, safer, more functional, and well-maintained facilities for U.S. diplomatic missions worldwide.
Since 1999, OBO has completed 75 diplomatic facilities and has moved more than 22,000 individuals into more secure, safer, and functional facilities. The Bureau currently has over 35 major projects in design or construction.
The IAP has been noted in two separate GSA government-wide surveys as having “Best Practices” and continues to draw participants from all parts of the design and construction industry.
