Recharging for electric cars The Beijing municipal government plans to set up 100 rapid and 36,000 low-speed charging stations in the city in the next three years to encourage use of electric vehicles, local media recently reported. The government expects that private owners will buy 30,000 new-energy vehicles by the end of 2012 - 23,000 of them pure electric and 7,000 plug-in hybrids, the reports said.
