Senate Judiciary Committee to vote Friday on Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination
The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote Friday on whether or not to move the Supreme Court nomination of Appeals Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Senate floor for confirmation. The Executive Business Meeting, at which Kavanaugh's nomination is on the agenda, was rescheduled to Friday at 9:30 a.m. Eastern from Monday in order for the committee to hold a remarkable hearing Thursday in which it took testimony from a woman who claims Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in high school and from Kavanaugh in his own defense. Democrats on the committee have been asking for a delay in proceedings and for more investigation into allegations against Kavanaugh but Republicans have vowed to move forward quickly. Kavanaugh was nominated to the Court by President Trump on July 9 to fill the vacancy of the retired Justice Anthony Kennedy.
