Hoyer Statement on Senate Republicans Abandoning Bipartisan Efforts to Stabilize the Markets and Improve the Affordable Care Act
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after Senate Republicans announced they are abandoning bipartisan efforts to stabilize health care markets and improve the Affordable Care Act:
"It is deeply disappointing that Senate Republicans would abandon the bipartisan Murray-Alexander effort to stabilize our health care markets. It is irresponsible of them to torpedo a good-faith process toward bipartisan consensus in order to present Republican senators with only one option: the Graham-Cassidy TrumpCare bill or nothing. This new TrumpCare bill would be worse than the one defeated in July with bipartisan opposition. I hope those Republican senators who stood on principle to defeat TrumpCare the first time will promptly signal that they stand with Republican governors and a majority of Americans in opposing this even-more-dangerous legislation."
