Hoyer Statement on New CBO Analysis of Senate TrumpCare Bill
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office released an analysis of the 20-year impact of the Senate TrumpCare bill on Medicaid:
“Today’s Congressional Budget Office analysis of the Senate TrumpCare bill provides even further reason why it should be abandoned. Republican Senators who are still supporting the President’s dangerous health care legislation ought to pause and consider whether it is wise to stand by a bill that would cut one out of every three dollars spent on nursing home care, doctor visits, and services for those with disabilities and force more Americans off Medicaid coverage over the next two decades. The impact of the bill over the first ten years was enough to force Leader McConnell to delay consideration this week.
“I hope this latest analysis of the long-term danger TrumpCare presents will lead it to be scrapped entirely. Instead, Republicans ought to work with Democrats in a bipartisan way to address the challenges facing our health care system. As the party that controls our government in its entirety, Republicans will be held responsible for whatever happens to health care in this country on their watch.”
