Hoyer Statement on President Trump's Executive Order on Health Care
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement on President Trump's executive order attacking the Affordable Care Act:
"Yesterday's executive order represents the first step in the Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans taking control of our health care system and sowing dangerous uncertainty. They are committed to fast-tracking repeal of the Affordable Care Act without a real plan to replace it. Doing so would actively take health insurance coverage away from 30 million Americans and cause health care costs to skyrocket for tens of millions more. It would balloon our deficits and national debt.
"Make no mistake: Republicans and the President are now responsible for any changes to health care access and affordability. Democrats will continue to stand up for expanded access to coverage, consumer protections and cost savings. We will fight on behalf of all who wish to keep their insurance coverage and ensure that health care is affordable for their families."
