Vice President Joe Biden on Cancer Research by info@c-spanarchives.org (National Cable Satellite Corporation) Vice President Joe Biden talked about his "Cancer Moonshot" initiative to cure cancer. The goal was to increase the rate of progress in cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment, doing in five years what normally would take ten. He was introduced by comedian Carol Burnett, whose daughter Carrie Hamilton died of cancer in 2002. The day-long summit, held by the vice president's White House Cancer Moonshot Task Force at Howard University's Armour J. Blackburn University Center in Washington, D.C., was one of over 200 events being held that day across the country bringing together public health officials, cancer patients ,and technology experts to share information, generate ideas, and form collaborations in ways to treat cancer. www.c-spanvideo.org/program/411941-1
