U.S. stocks end higher; Dow turns positive for the year
U.S. stocks ended higher Wednesday as strong gains in oil prices pushed energy and materials stocks higher, buoying the main benchmarks. A slumping dollar along with strong earnings and outlook for FedEx Corp. helped lift shares in the industrials sector. The S&P 500 closed 13 points, or 0.7%, higher at 2,040, its highest level this year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 155 points, or 0.9%, to 17,480, turning positive for the year.
