Department of Homeland Security Oversight by info@c-spanarchives.org (National Cable Satellite Corporation) Secretary Jeh Johnson testified at an oversight hearing of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Committee members examined the issue of jurisdictions that do not enforce federal immigration laws and the death of a woman whom authorities say was shot and killed by an undocumented immigrant earlier in July in San Francisco. These jurisdictions are also known as "sanctuary cities," and San Francisco is one of them. Secretary Johnson also addressed the use of "prosecutorial discretion" by the department's Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office to influence deportation cases, and President Obama's 2014 executive action offering temporary legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants. www.c-spanvideo.org/program/327074-1
