U.S. runs budget surplus of $52 billion in June
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The federal government ran a budget surplus of $52 billion in June, the Treasury Department said Monday. That is $19 billion lower than the surplus seen in the same month a year ago. The government spent $291 billion in June, up $38 billion from last June. Total receipts were $343 billion, up $19 billion. For the fiscal year to date, the government's budget deficit is $313 billion. That is $52 billion smaller than the year-ago period.
