Intelligence Oversight, Part 1 by info@c-spanarchives.org (National Cable Satellite Corporation) Former Senators Walter Mondale (D-MN) and Gary Hart (D-CO) and Mr. Schwartz talked about their work on the Church Committee, one of Congress's first forays into major reforms of the American intelligence community and its oversight by the legislative and judicial branches. They talk about their work on the committee, some of the challenges they faced, and their views on how some of the changes they championed have played out in subsequent decades. Former Vice President Mondale (D) also offered criticism of the courts overseeing intelligence warrants and surveillance activities. This was the opening keynote session of "Strengthening Intelligence Oversight Lessons from the Church Committee," a day-long symposium featuring former Church Committee members and staff, held by the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law at the Constance Milstein and Family Global Academic Center of the New York University in Washington, D.C. www.c-spanvideo.org/program/326284-1
