Hoyer Announces 2015 Member Online All-Star Competition
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) announced the beginning of the 2015 House Democrats’ Member Online All-Star Competition, an annual three-week competition for House Democrats to gain new followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
“Today marks the beginning of House Democrats’ sixth annual Online All-Star Competition, a three-week competition among Members of the Democratic Caucus to increase online engagement and reach constituents through social media. With more and more Americans increasingly engaging online, it’s more important than ever that House Democrats are taking our message to various social media platforms and communicating with constituents online. During last year’s competition, House Democrats acquired over 200,000 new followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube. I am hopeful that over the next three weeks, the Caucus will surpass that number and reach even more Americans with our agenda to support job creation, strengthen our nation’s competitiveness, and expand opportunities for all Americans.”
During the three-week competition, which began at midnight, the number of new followers gained by Members, committees, and Caucuses are tracked on a scoreboard. The top 50 Members at the conclusion of the contest will be named Online All-Stars, the top finisher will be named the MVP, and the top freshman office will be named Freshman MVP. The top three committees and the top two Caucuses are also named Online All-Stars. Additionally, awards will be presented for the top video, top infographic, and most viral content produced.
Beginning tomorrow, the top of the scoreboard can be viewed by the public at DemocraticWhip.gov/AllStar.
