SEC announces members of new market structure committee
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission announced the members of its Equity Market Structure Advisory Committee on Tuesday. The committee will focus on the operations and structure of U.S. equities markets, including on the issue of high-frequency trading. Among the members are Joe Ratterman, CEO of BATS Global Markets; former U.S. Senator Ted Kaufman, a critic of high-frequency trading; Richard Ketchum, the CEO of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority; Joseph Mecane, the managing director of Barclays and Brad Katsuyama, president and CEO of the IEX Group Inc. Issues surrounding high-frequency trading gained increased attention after the release of Michael Lewis' book "Flash Boys" in 2014, with Katsuyama featured heavily.
