API reports crude inventories up 3.9 million: reports
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The American Petroleum Institute on Tuesday said U.S. crude inventories rose 3.9 million barrels for the week ended Jan. 9, according to reports. The trade group's supply data comes a day ahead a report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Analysts polled by Platts expect the EIA to report a decline of 400,000 barrels in crude-oil stockpiles. Gasoline stocks are seen up 2.7 million barrels, while distillate supplies are seen up 1.9 million barrels.
