Hoyer Statement on Senate Republicans' Obstruction of the Bring Jobs Home Act WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after Republican Senators blocked debate on the Bring Jobs Home Act: “I am disappointed that a handful of Republican Senators have blocked the Bring Jobs Home Act from moving forward in that chamber, in spite of it securing a majority of votes. The Bring Jobs Home Act, an integral part of the Make It In America plan for jobs and competitiveness, would eliminate tax deductions for moving expenses when businesses move jobs overseas and provide a new tax credit for those that bring jobs back. “This bill deserves an up-or-down vote in the Senate as it will help bring more jobs home to our country and enable more Americans who are still seeking work to find jobs that provide a pathway to the middle class. I also continue to urge Republicans to bring its House companion bill, introduced by Rep. Bill Pascrell, to the Floor for consideration. Unfortunately, House Republicans are instead wasting time on a partisan lawsuit against the President, which distracts from the real issues our nation and economy face. I hope Republicans will set their partisan agenda aside and work with Democrats to move this bill forward in a bipartisan way so we can help more businesses and more of our people Make It In America.” Visit www.democraticwhip.gov/ for more press, floor and member resources
