Hello,
No one who works full time in America should have to raise their family in poverty. That's why increasing the minimum wage is a matter of such great urgency.
It's been nearly five years since workers at the bottom of the income ladder have gotten a raise. But over that time, the cost of everything they need to survive — food, housing, utilities, transportation, child care and more — have all gone up. They're working harder and harder, but falling further and further behind.
Watch this short video to hear how increasing the minimum wage is the right thing and the smart thing to do.
If Congress raised the wage from $7.25 to $10.10 per hour, it would put more money in the pockets of 28 million people — enough money to pay a year's worth of groceries, or even 6 months of rent. It would allow them to provide for their families instead of making heartbreaking choices between buying a gallon of milk or a gallon of gas.
