Hoyer Applauds Natural Resources Committee Passage of H.R. 4120 WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the House Committee on Natural Resources passed H.R. 4120, legislation co-sponsored by Whip Hoyer to allow construction to proceed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum by extending authorization for the non-profit National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF): “I’m pleased the Committee on Natural Resources passed this bipartisan legislation by unanimous consent today, bringing us one step closer to allowing construction of the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum to proceed. By extending authorization through 2016, the NLEOMF will be able to complete the museum, which will honor the nearly 20,000 local, state, and federal officers who have been killed in the line of duty. Once complete, Americans will be able to visit the museum to learn about and remember the extraordinary heroes in communities across the country who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe. I thank the Committee for endorsing this important legislation, and I urge the House Republican leadership to bring it to the House Floor for consideration as soon as possible.” Visit www.democraticwhip.gov/ for more press, floor and member resources.
