NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks ended mostly higher but trimmed earlier gains scored after a bigger-than-expected rise in February nonfarm payrolls. The S&P 500 rose 1.01 point, or 0.1%, to 1,878.04, marking another record close for the index, which also posted a 1% weekly rise. The Dow industrials also held on to gains, rising 30.83 points, or 0.2%, to 16,452.72, contributing to a 0.8% weekly advance. The Nasdaq Composite bucked the trend, losing 15.90 points, or 0.4%, to 4,336.22, and trimming its weekly rise to 0.7%.
