Hoyer Statement on February Manufacturing Report
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the Institute for Supply Management released its report for February:
"Today's report by the Institute for Supply Management shows a manufacturing sector that continues to expand at a steady pace. While this news is a reminder of the strength of our economic recovery, uncertainty continues to hold back the full potential for private-sector growth. Congress must take specific actions to create jobs by passing Make It In America legislation that will adopt a national manufacturing strategy, promote U.S. exports, encourage the return of jobs and innovation to our shores, and invest in a twenty-first century workforce.
"Passing Make It In America legislation would provide a significant boost to our manufacturing sector, and Democrats and Republicans ought to work together without delay in order to enact bills under this bipartisan jobs plan. At the same time, we must pursue an FY2015 budget that achieves sustainable fiscal outcomes and provides greater certainty to businesses and working families."
