Friend --
When it comes to fighting for economic opportunity for all Americans, President Obama showed last night he's going to walk the walk.
In the State of the Union, he announced his administration will raise the minimum wage to $10.10 for new contracts for federal contract workers -- folks like janitors, cafeteria workers, and cashiers.
That's something he can do on his own, without Congress. But it's going to take a movement like ours to make sure every American making the minimum wage gets a raise, too.
Call on Congress to go to bat for regular folks -- add your name today and join the fight to raise the minimum wage.
In the last election, Americans voted for an agenda centered around a simple idea: that anyone who works hard and plays by the rules deserves an opportunity to succeed.
Let's face it: Congress has done very little in the last year to live up to that goal. That's why President Obama showed last night he isn't waiting on them.
That's huge -- but the truth is we can get a whole lot more done, and help so many more people, if Congress joins in.
Raising the minimum wage is a big step forward. Right now, full-time workers making the federal minimum wage make about $15,000 a year. That means far too many people have to decide among the bare necessities.
The President made restoring opportunity for all Americans the centerpiece of the State of the Union.
Let's follow his lead -- add your name right now and say you'll fight to raise the minimum wage:
