NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks closed up on Tuesday as investors welcomed data showing that the trade gap narrowed more than expected in November. The benchmark S&P 500 added 11.11 points, or 0.6% to 1,837.88, rising for the first time this year, after falling for the first three days in January. The Dow Jones Industrial Average leaped 105.84 points, or 0.6% to 16,530.94. The Nasdaq Composite closed 39.50 points, or 1%, higher at 4,153.18, also breaking a three-day losing streak.
