U.K. may join IMF fund boost -- Report from MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The United Kingdom is ready to boost its contribution to the International Monetary Fund as long as other members of the Group of 20 also contribute. "Britain is willing to make a contribution if there is a well-argued case brought forward by the IMF, and other G20 countries agree with us that there is a well-argued case and want to make a contribution," Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne was quoted by Reuters as telling the Treasury Select Committee on Wednesday. Euro-zone countries hope that if they put more money at the disposal of the IMF it can help contain the persistent debt crisis affecting the currency bloc.
