Hoyer Statement on the November Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the Department of Labor released its jobs report for November:
“With our economy adding another 156,000 private sector jobs in November, we are continuing to see strong job gains, in large part due to the efforts of Democrats and President Obama in the aftermath of the Great Recession. It says much about the President’s legacy and the hard work we have achieved together that the unemployment rate has now fallen to 4.6%, its lowest level in over nine years. Democrats will continue working to ensure that the jobs we create translate into economic advancement and economic security for America’s workers. That’s what our Make It In America plan is all about, and it aims to achieve those goals by expanding innovation and entrepreneurship, closing the skills gap, building a twenty-first century infrastructure, and breaking down barriers to manufacturing in the United States. “As a result of the policies put in place by President Obama and Democrats, the incoming administration will inherit a strong and growing economy. I will strongly oppose any efforts by Republicans to turn the clock back on our recovery by enacting the same failed policies that brought recession and economic insecurity at the end of the previous Republican administration. House Democrats will continue to stand up for working Americans and their families.”
