Hoyer Congratulates Leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus for the 115th Congress
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today congratulating the leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus for the 115th Congress:
“I join in congratulating Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham on her election as Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus for the 115th Congress, and I thank Rep. Linda Sánchez for her service as the current Chair. I also congratulate the rest of the new CHC leadership: First Vice Chair Rep. Joaquin Castro, Second Vice Chair Rep. Ruben Gallego, and the CHC Whip, Rep. Pete Aguilar. I look forward to working with them in the next Congress.
“The Congressional Hispanic Caucus will continue to be at the forefront of efforts to block the egregious agenda of Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans, who have said they intend to take health insurance away from 20 million Americans, split immigrant families apart through massive deportation, and do nothing to raise wages to give working families economic security. CHC Members understand that we ought to be constructing bridges to opportunity instead of erecting walls of mistrust. With their leadership, House Democrats will continue to push for comprehensive immigration reform, economic opportunity for all Americans, and a more inclusive country where all of our neighbors are respected and permitted to share in pursuing the American Dream.”
