Hoyer Statement on the Release of Twenty-One Kidnapped Girls in Nigeria
WASHINGTON, DC β House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today:
βThe news today that Boko Haram has released 21 of the more than 200 school girls kidnapped over two years ago would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of advocates from around the world, including Rep. Frederica Wilson. While we rejoice for those 21 girls and their families, we will not rest until all of the girls have been released. These girls were kidnapped for daring to go to school and get an education so that they could pursue a better life for themselves and their families. People all over the world stand with them, and with every girl who is courageously pursuing an education. We will not let the ideology and violent extremism of groups like Boko Haram prevail. I continue to support using all the resources at our disposal to bring the remaining kidnapped girls home.β
