Hoyer Statement on National Manufacturing Day
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today in recognition of National Manufacturing Day:
“As we recognize National Manufacturing Day, we have an opportunity to recognize the great strides the American manufacturing industry has made in recovering since the Great Recession. While the manufacturing industry has dramatically changed over the past few years, it has made significant gains, including the addition of 800,000 new manufacturing jobs since 2010.
“But there is still work to be done to ensure that everyone can Make It In America. That’s why House Democrats launched the ‘Make It In America’ plan in 2010, to revitalize the manufacturing sector and encourage private sector job creation here in the U.S. An updated plan, introduced in June of this year, focuses on helping innovators and entrepreneurs start businesses, scale up, and create jobs here in America.
“House Democrats are committed to helping entrepreneurs start – and keep – companies here in the United States. As we work to secure America’s place as the world’s leading producer and innovator, I am hopeful that Congress will work to enact additional Make It In America legislation. I will continue to work with my colleagues of both sides of the aisle so that more families are included in the changing economy, and are able to secure their place in our middle class.”
