Say what you will about the legislation on Zika, but this is such a large issue that this drills all the way down to us as individuals. WE must protect OURSELVES! The CDC has warned concerned citizens that if they have open vent or plumbing pipes, which are exposed to the outside of their home, these openings should be covered with wire cloth (something like the fine wire mesh - stainless steel - seen here: Fine Wire Mesh - Mosquito Screen ) immediately. The statement goes on to explain that the openings of this applied wire mesh material must be smaller than the size of an adult mosquito. Additionally, these experts have warned that any standing container of water left outdoors that has no lid, should be covered with wire mesh screen material. If you are going to be outside for a long period of time, you must apply a large amount of insect repellent. If you do not have to be outside in areas with fields, high grass, and moist swamp like conditions - DO NOT STAY OUTDOORS! This is a very serious matter, and it keeps spreading - be safe, and be proactive and preventative!
