Senate confirms Loretta Lynch as attorney general
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The U.S. Senate voted to confirm Loretta Lynch as attorney general on Thursday. Lynch, 55, currently serves as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York. She was nominated by President Barack Obama in November to succeed Eric Holder, and becomes the first African-American woman to hold the position. Republicans have criticized her defense of Obama's executive actions on immigration. The vote was 56 to 43.
