Hoyer: 100 Days Since Senate Passage of Budget, House Republicans Still Refuse to go to Conference WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today marking 100 days since the Senate passed its budget resolution: “Today marks the 100th day since the Senate passed its budget resolution, providing Speaker Boehner with the opportunity to follow regular order and appoint House Republican conferees to begin negotiations on a final version of the budget for FY2014. He has not done so, even while businesses and families across the country continue to strain under the uncertainty of sequester and Congress’s failure to get our country’s fiscal house in order. “There is no excuse for delay, and we have now waited 100 days for the Speaker to act. House Democrats have named our conferees, led by Budget Ranking Member Chris Van Hollen, and they are ready to work to finalize a budget that can restore certainty to our economy by replacing the sequester in its entirety and achieving a big, balanced approach to deficit reduction. The country is waiting for the Speaker to act, and I urge him to appoint budget conferees without further delay.” Visit www.democraticwhip.gov/ for more press, floor and member resources.
