House Democrats Announce 2013 Member Online All-Star Competition
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today announcing the beginning of the 2013 House Democrats’ Member Online All-Star Competition:
“I’m pleased to announce that today marks the beginning of House Democrats’ fourth annual Online All-Star Competition, which encourages Members of the Democratic Caucus to strengthen online engagement with our constituents. Last year, House Democrats were able to connect with over 139,000 people in just three weeks. Building on that success, Members will again be encouraged to increase their numbers of followers on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube as a way to expand our dialogue with the public about House Democrats’ critical work in Congress. I am confident that this year’s competition will help Democrats reach more Americans than ever and continue to demonstrate the importance of digital media in connecting with constituents and communicating our plans for creating jobs and growing opportunities for middle-class families and those striving to enter the middle-class.”
The fourth annual Member Online All-Star competition is an annual contest for House Democrats that continues for three weeks. The winner is chosen based on total new Facebook fans, Twitter followers, and YouTube subscribers acquired over the contest duration. The top 50 Members at the conclusion of the contest will be named Online All-Stars, the top finisher will be named the MVP. Additionally, the top three committees and the top two Caucuses are named Online All-Stars, and this year, the top freshman office will be named the Freshman MVP.
