Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues Zeenat Rahman to Travel to India

Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues Zeenat Rahman will travel to Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi, India, April 21-26, to meet with and listen to young Indian innovators from across the economic, political, and civic spheres to highlight their work and expand U.S.-India people-to-people ties.
Special Adviser Rahman will be in Kolkata, April 21-22, where she will discuss economic opportunity with business students, meet with young female journalists, and take part in a “townterview” interview with university students and young entrepreneurs conducted by Taaza TV, a local television station. She will also attend a cultural performance organized by Banglanatak, a local non-governmental organization committed to preserving local culture and developing sustainable livelihoods for rural communities, and participate in an event with student leaders entitled “Vertical Gardens in Crowded Urban Areas: A Tool for Combating Climate Change” in honor of Earth Day and Global Youth Service Day.
In Mumbai, April 23-24, Special Adviser Rahman will meet with several private sector executives and will take part in a roundtable with the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Young Indians group. At the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), she will speak on “Youth, Innovation, and Economic Opportunity” with an audience of approximately 300 faculty members and students in attendance. She will also engage with young entrepreneurs and representatives of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Mumbai, a large non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to the advancement of entrepreneurs.
Special Adviser Rahman’s trip will conclude in New Delhi, April 25-26. She will meet with Government of India officials to discuss youth issues, including youth employment and political and civic participation. She will also meet with members of the National Skill Development Corporation, a public-private partnership set up by the Government of India to fund organizations that undertake skill development programs. Special Adviser Rahman will speak on a panel at Microsoft’s Innovate for Good program in conjunction with the Office of Global Youth Issues’ Startup Youth Initiative. She will also conduct interviews with local press.
