Singapore shares rise, Olam dropsfrom MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Singapore shares rose Thursday, following gains on Wall Street ahead of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. The Straits Times Index was up 0.5% to 2,976.39. Olam International Ltd. announced Wednesday that it is suing Muddy Waters LLC for alleged "libel and slander" after the research firm's founder questioned the company's accounting practices earlier in the week. Shares of the agricultural commodities company fell 1.5%. Meanwhile, Keppel Corp. Ltd. added 1.8%, extending gains from Wednesday. A 0.3% advance for Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. , a 0.7% increase for DBS Group Holdings Ltd. , and a 1.1% gain for United Overseas Bank Ltd. helped offset a 0.1% decline for Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd. and a 0.8% drop for Global Logistic Properties Ltd. .
