Louisiana State Archives from C-SPAN Video Library Programs Recently Aired by info@c-spanarchives.org (National Cable Satellite Corporation)State Archivist Florent Hardy gave a tour of the Louisiana State Archives. Louisiana became the 18th state in 1812. The Archives holds all of the original acts of the Louisiana state legislature as well as documents from when the area was governed by the U.S. after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Mr. Hardy showed one of the dockets which dates back to 1804 and the document that created the West Florida Republic of Louisiana in 1810. The republic lasted 74 days until annexed by the United States. C-SPAN's Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their "2011 LCV Cities Tour" in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on November 27-December 2 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Cox Communications local cable affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. www.c-spanvideo.org/program/303255-1
