DRIVE SENIORS TO THE POLLS!!! (Canvass)
ELECTION DAY -TUESDAY - NOVEMBER 8TH:
DRIVE SENIORS TO THE POLLS.
ASK AT YOUR CHURCH SUNDAY IF ANYONE NEEDS A RIDE.
CALL LOCAL SENIOR HOMES AND ASK IF ANYONE NEEDS A RIDE TO GO VOTE.
WHEN YOU CALL YOUR FAMILY TO MAKE SURE THEY VOTE, ASK THEM IF THEY KNOW SOMEONE WHO NEEDS A RIDE.
KEEP THIS LIST SO YOU CAN USE IT AGAIN FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA IN 2012.
In DeSoto County Seniors can vote from the car if they cannot get out. As the driver, just go inside the poll and tell them you have seniors at the curb. You might not want to do this during the "rush" times, before and after work and lunch.
9AM-11AM and 2-4PM are easiest, the rest of the time it's possible, you just might have to wait a bit for them to come outside.
If someone needs help reading the ballot, THEY ARE ENTITLED BY LAW TO REQUEST ASSISTANCE FROM THE PERSON OF THEIR CHOICE (not the poll worker's choice)!
Make sure they have a sample ballot in case there is a problem (again) so they can us it if they choose.
YOU CAN ALSO HELP ON SUNDAY BY PASSING OUT SAMPLE BALLOTS, THERE WILL BE MANY AVAILABLE ON FRIDAY NIGHT AT JOHNNY DUPREE'S RECEPTION, 6-8PM HOLIDAY INN, MARATHON WAY IN SOUTHAVEN.
YOU CAN ALSO PHONE BANK EVERY DAY FROM YOUR HOME, CALL THE CONTACTS IN YOUR CELL PHONE OR YOUR ADDRESS BOOK. MAKE SURE YOU DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO GET OUT THE VOTE!
SUPPORT OUR PRESIDENT BY ELECTING A DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR AND SUPPORTIVE HOUSE MEMBERS!
VOTE FOR OUR DEMOCRATS ON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 8TH.

In just a few days, Mississippi will be holding our 11/8 General Election to determine the direction our State will go, with the Obama administration (supportive) or continuously against it. Obama won 20,000 votes in DeSoto County in 2008, and we desperately need to see them return to vote for November 8, 2011 and even MORE in 2012. We practice for this year getting out the vote, and are ready for NEXT YEAR AND THE PRESIDENT'S RE-ELECTION. (I have re-elect President Obama yard signs $10)
In DeSoto County we have 21 different ballots, and the only local DEMOCRATIC candidates are in one area, not all over. FOR SENIORS OR ANYONE NOT IN THE COUNTY NOV 8TH YOU CAN VOTE NOW ABSENTEE!!.
Absentee voting ONLY TODAY (FRIDAY) AND SATURDAY 8AM-NOON at the Hernando Courthouse, 2nd floor Circuit Clerk's office (429-1326) and Saturday 8AM-NOON. Mississippi Absentee Voter Guide

The Secretary of State’s office has released its sample ballot for the Nov. 8 election. This ballot includes statewide, legislative and multi-district offices. County races are added at the county level. This gives you an idea of the order in which candidates will appear on the ballot. On page 17 you will see the ballot initiatives – “personhood,” voter ID and eminent domain in that order. Note the wording of the initiatives, blogs.clarionledger.com/ecrisp/2011/09/16/nov-8-sample-ballot-released/ Elections Answer line at 1-800-829-6786.
Many DeSoto County voters have new polling places and will need to look at the back of their NEW voter registration card to ascertain where to vote. If they did not get a new Voter Registration Card, they may no longer be registered to vote (according to Dale Thompson who spoke at an AARP meeting last month 662-429-1326 about the many who were recently purged from the voter rolls.)
78,000 voter registration cards were mailed out this summer. The return address said POSTMASTER DO NOT FORWARD. All mailed voter registration cards that were returned, had those voter names removed from the active DC voter rolls. So if you moved and didn't update your address with the county, and didn't receive a NEW voter registration card this summer, you may no longer be registered to vote.
This will be DeSoto County's first GENERAL election with the new Supervisor/Justice Court redistricted lines, and DeSoto County will offer 21 different ballots next Tuesday, November 8th. Here is an interactive map to see the new Supervisor voting boundaries
