Save Texas Schools is hosting a regional conference for the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. We will be discussing the effects of the 2011 Texas Legislative Session on public education. The following representatives are confirmed for the panel: Sen. Wendy Davis of Fort Worth SBOE Member Thomas Ratliff of Mount Pleasant Rep. Mark Shelton of Fort Worth We will also have speeches that night from the following people: Former Lt. Governor Bill Ratliff Senator Wendy Davis of Fort Worth John Kuhn (Perrin-Whitt CISD Superintendent) Connor Brantley of Fort Worth Saturday: There will be a panel of superintendents, higher education, and school board members. They will discuss the effects of the public education cuts on their districts and schools. The following superintendents are confirmed for the panel: Ellen Jones (HEB) Bobby Rigues (Aledo ISD) Gloria Pena (Arlington ISD) school board Jerry McCullough (Arlington ISD) Dr. Dan Powell (Crowley ISD) Marcus Balch higher ed There will be four workshops covering: -Understanding the Education Funding Crisis -Effective Ways to Institute Change -Developing Candidates by Cliff Walker -Sharpening Your Message by Tom Archer There will be a light supper (Fri) and lunch (Sat) provided. The ticket prices are as follows: Friday night only: $10 in advance, $15 at the door Saturday only: $20 in advance, $25 at the door Entire Weekend: $25 in advance, $35 at the door
