An Overview of Recent Changes in Turkmenistan The Central Asia MiPAL has been updated with remarks by the Secretary of State with President Otunbayeva of Kyrgyzstan, at a town hall meeting addressing the Obama Administration's approach to Kyrgyzstan, and at the Transit Center at Manas, a State Department fact sheet announcing the establishment of a U.S.-Uzbekistan agreement on science and technology cooperation, and articles from the China and Eurasia Forum Quarterly assessing the stability of Turkmenistan, analyzing shifts in Turkmenistan's political elite, political culture, and domestic and social policies, providing an overview of recent changes to Turkmenistan's macroeconomic policies, examining ongoing implications resulting from the 2006-2007 leadership transition in Turkmenistan, and assessing Russia's security interests in Central Asia.
