Record number of job openings for small business, NFIB says
There's a record high number of unfilled job openings at small business, the National Federation of Independent Business reported, citing its survey of small-business owners. The NFIB said a net 37% of owners have job openings they haven't filled. Job openings are most frequent in construction (57%), manufacturing (46%), and wholesale trades (45%). The percent that used temporary workers rose a point to 13%, the NFIB added. A seasonally-adjusted net 23% are planning to create new jobs, up two points from June's 21 percent. The Labor Department will report July jobs numbers on Friday.
