UPDATED: Hoyer, House Democratic Members to Travel to Israel and Palestinian Territories
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) will serve as the senior Member of a group of 19 House Democrats visiting Israel and the West Bank from August 2nd to 8th to learn more about issues critical to the U.S.-Israel relationship and international security.
“I am pleased to once again travel to Israel to reaffirm the United States’ unbreakable bond with our ally,” stated Whip Hoyer. “This is a critical region with profound implications for U.S. and global security, which is why it is so important for Members of Congress to travel to Israel to meet with key Israeli and Palestinian leaders and see first-hand the challenges and opportunities facing the Middle East today.”
Hoyer and the delegation will meet with Israeli and Palestinian government officials, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah. They will also meet with U.S. Ambassador David Friedman and military officials, and they will visit important historical and cultural sites, including the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. The trip is organized by the American Israel Education Foundation, an independent, nonprofit charitable organization.
