Hoyer Statement on White House Continuing Cost Sharing Reduction Payments
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the White House confirmed that they will continue to make cost sharing reduction payments:
“I am pleased that the White House confirmed what I’ve been asking for: that they will uphold their commitment under the law to continue making cost sharing reduction payments. Now, it is incumbent upon House Republicans to withdraw their lawsuit that seeks to block these payments. Doing so will ensure immediate and long-term stability for our health insurance markets. Ensuring continued access to affordable coverage for millions of Americans is an obligation to our constituents – not a bargaining chip to be traded for something.
“Now that their party controls the levers of government, Republicans will be held responsible for any changes to our health care system that take place on their watch. I urge them to take actions that increase certainty and stability, not plunge our health care system into chaos – the choice is theirs.”
