U.S. stocks open higher as oil prices rebound
U.S. stocks opened higher Tuesday, with the Dow industrials posting three-digit gains after the opening bell, as a rebound in oil prices helped push all three U.S. benchmarks higher. All 10 sectors on the S&P 500 and all 30 Dow industrials components opened in positive territory. The S&P energy sector was leading the index after the opening bell, up 1.62%, while Chevron was leading the Dow industrials, up 1.84%. The S&P 500 rose 16 points, or 0.8%, to 2,072. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 165 points, or 0.9%, to 17,692. The Nasdaq Composite added 34 points, or 0.7%, to 5,075.
