Hoyer: Republicans Should Reconsider Opposition to Export-Import Bank WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on House Republican leaders' comments about letting the U.S. Export-Import Bank expire: “I am deeply disappointed by comments from Republican House leaders in support of cutting off export financing from the Export-Import Bank. The Ex-Im Bank supports thousands of American jobs and helps small and medium-sized businesses across the country access foreign markets and compete on a level playing field. A broad, bipartisan coalition of Members supports extending the Bank’s charter, and if Republican leaders were to allow the House to work its will, a long-term reauthorization would pass. I hope they will reconsider their opposition and instead side with the American businesses and workers who are asking that Congress take action before the Bank’s charter authority ends in June.” Visit www.democraticwhip.gov for more press, floor and member resources
