WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- President Barack Obama on Monday called for an immediate ceasefire to the fighting in Gaza and said he was concerned with the rising number of Palestinian civilian deaths and loss of Israeli lives. Secretary of State John Kerry will push for a ceasefire in talks in Cairo this week, he said. "The work will not be easy," Obama said in a brief statement on the South Lawn of the White House. On the downed Malaysia Airlines plane, Obama pressed Russia to use its influence with separatists in Ukraine to allow international investigators full access to the crash site. Evidence and bodies are being removed from the crash site, he said. Overall, Russia needs to "pivot away" from its strategy in Ukraine and "get serious" about resolving the crisis peacefully, he said. If they don't, Russia faces further costs, he said.
